MANDARIN SOUR

A classic gin cocktail that dates back to the 18th century!

 

GLASSWARE: Cocktail Glass

 

INGREDIENTS:

2oz Fortunella Gin
1oz Freshly Squeezed Mandarin Juice
3/4oz Ginger Syrup*
1/2oz Fresh Lime Juice

 

GARNISH: Mandarin Wheel

 

*store bought or homemade

For Homemade Ginger Syrup:
1kg Sugar
1L Water
3 inch thumb of fresh ginger peeled and sliced thin
1-3 Thai Chilis cut lengthwise (depending on how spicy you want it)
Zest of 1 Lemon
3oz Fresh Lemon Juice

PROCESS

COCKTAIL
1. Measure and pour all ingredients in shaker with ice
2. Shake and strain into cocktail glass
3. Garnish with a mandarin wheel

GINGER SYRUP
1. Combine all ingredients except lemon juice in a saucepan and bring to low boil for 5 minutes
2. Add lemon juice and simmer for 15 minutes
3. Let cool, strain, and bottle
Yields 2 cups; leftovers will keep in the refrigerator for up to a month.
